Hello delightful sauer gamers.
After making skins for about 4 years now, I’ve decided to finally release my tools/templates to which have helped me quite alot. I’ll go through each template and how to use each (though its pretty self explanatory). Hope this is useful for some people.
So first of all, I use GIMP, a very powerful image editor. Mainly the ‘colourise’ tool. Which is seen in right click -> colours -> colourise. This tool allows you to change the whole colour of the image. Most of the templates are in grey, to which allows more accurate colourisation (adviced). It is also adviced to to make your colours to bright, since you can adjust the playermodel brightness in-game.
cc – Templates involving Captain Cannon model. Seperated into two categories, Head and Lower.
flag – Have the flag itself and also extra middle detail, like the circle and the pattern within.
flags_custom_design – I tried making a new flag icon for the radar, looks pretty decent but its not really idea for competitive. You can see all the different designs inside, actual templates you can use in the ‘design’ folder, and pre-coloured icons in new-flag-icons.
glitched_black – Template for the glitched team-set. Essentially you fill in the white images with your desired colour, and paste the black template over it to complete the design.
glitched_white – Pretty much the same as glitched_black, but you can colourise the glitched part.
hud – Different icons involving the hud.
inky – Templates for inky, this took me a long time to develop xD.
mixed – Templates used for the mixed teamsets. It consists off two-coloured combo for each playermodel. You have the main colour and then the accent colour, to which then everything is overlayed with the black templates for each to make it look clean.
mrfixit – Different parts off the Mr Fixit design, fun to play around with.
new_colours – I used this as an easy way to make designs for everything team related. Flags, skins, hud icons and player icons for the scoreboard.
ogro – A bit messy alone, suggested to use new_colours if you want to make an ogro skin.
rifle – Ao1|PointBlank’s rifle templates I found a while ago.
Sauerbraten_Blend Models – Blender files for playermodels and guns.
scifi – Scifi templates for making the scifi teamset, also inspired by Pointblank’s design.
snout – All the usual stuff you find for the snout skins. You have the usual skin templates in hands, lower and upper. sw folder consists off templates for the Greenadis’ skins from sauerworld, a much cleaner version off the original skin.
templates – Most clean folder if you want to make your own custom skins.
I think these are easy to configure on how to use, so i wont go into any detail as for using these.
Vanilla skins are found in packages/models/captaincannon, inky, etc… Sauer uses two of the same images for the skins, dds and png. By default Sauer will use the dds images, which is suggested you export your final result in. I suggest that you export your images in both, dds and png. This is to avoid confusion as to why one works and not the other, since Sauer prioritises dds images, and if that isnt found, png is used. Worth noting the flag and ogro2 use jpg files only. There is also hudgun skins, which are found in each playermodels (excluding ogro2) folders which is the same deal. Captain Cannon and Inky dont have a custom hudgun skin, instead they use the main skin used overall. Only Mr Fixit and Iron Snout use a custom skin image for the hudguns.
