The client mod by ETERNALSOLSTICE has passed version 1.0 yesterday, so here’s a quick writeup on what it offers.
The mod adds a couple of really useful features, although all of them are disabled by default. A lot of them focus on making the HUD more customizable, for example:
- New HUD elements: Game clock, scores and an ammo bar (shows how much ammo is left for each weapon)
- Colored health and armour counters
- More statistics on scoreboard (frags, damage & accuracy; frags and damage with a nice “net” value: frags minus deaths and damage dealt minus damage taken, resectively)
- Detailed weapon statistics (accuracy and damage per weapon) for each player available in a UI window
Other features include:
- Server preview similar to WahnClient’s preview
- Things like no explosion animation and debris, no sparks for MG
/demoseek
command to fast-forward (or backward) in demos- A UI menu to manage all those added features
For people like me who record gameplay every now and then, there is also a setting that makes you always be in the same team as the player you spectate, so that the player’s enemies are always also your enemies and thus shown with the red skin (or pink, or yellow, or what have you).

Could someone explain the main differences between SDL 1.2 and SDL 2 to me, and if/why SDL 2 os better to play? :)

Contains a list of new features. If I had to point out one major improvement it would be the better input.
